The International House of Prayer Movement? False or True? (Thoughts & Concerns)

First let me say, this may offend some of the readers, but please open up your heart to what I’m saying. I wouldn’t be typing about this if I didn’t care about ya’ll. I was once participating in this movement as well. I have now fled from it As a brother don’t ya’ll know I want best for my brothers in sisters in Christ. ESPECIALLY IN THEIR PRAYER LIFE! I want to let everyone know I am praying wholeheartedly for Mike Bickle. I am praying for God to open his eyes to what is happening here, and heal their broken church, and their prayer movement. I pray the same if anyone realizes their prayer hasn’t been prayer at all. Remember I’m not saying you can pray. I’m just trying to encourage help! That is all.

 

I’ve been studying up on the Dominion theology for awhile. What brought this theology to my attention, was when I was attending a church called IHOP (International House of Prayer). I attended for about 3 months during college this semester to cure some boredom. The more I went to this church through out the semester, the more I got to know about it. I don’t know what anyone else thinks about IHOP’s theology, but when I first walk into a church, I take a look at their theology, and see if it’s biblically sound.

 

IHOP has 24/7, 365, and 366 day a year prayer. Till the end times as they proclaim. They believe God wants that. I beg to differ, but first what is IHOP’s believe on Mike Bicke’s false vision on the prayer movement. IHOPPERS believe in something called Contemplative prayer. Ya’ll are probably wondering what is well, from my research I can explain,

 

“Contemplative prayer is not just “contemplating while you pray. The Bible instructs us to pray with our minds (1 Corinthians 14:15), so, clearly, prayer does involve contemplation. However, praying with your mind is not what “contemplative prayer” has come to mean. Contemplative prayer has slowly increased in practice and popularity along with the rise of the emerging IHOP church movement, a movement which embraces many unscriptural ideas and practices. Contemplative prayer is one such practice.” The funny thing is were called to pray without ceasing. I believe many interns, and pastors within IHOP fake their prayers. Why, think about. Were in small group, their has been times we’ve prayed for maybe 30 minutes to an hour, and just day dreamed about our fleshly desires. I know people in IHOP won’t admit that stuff, because they want people to believe this lie their involved it. When I pray I think about stuff, then I redirect myself back to God. But their is no point to pray for long periods of time The word does tell us to pray without ceasing 1 Thessalonians 5:17 (NASB). Clearly a lot of IHOPPERS do that. Especially the pastors and interns supporting the movement. Whoever attends this church as a guest, or member. I encourage you to FLEE! So let’s dive into what ceasing means biblically from the Greek word.

 

Ceasing means,

1. to be silent, still, but while were ACTUALLY talking to God, not pretending. Most Christians do that. Don’t hate, we do. Were sinful. It’s okay.

2. the Greek word for ceasing is dä·man’

3. So this means if were participating in Contemplative prayer Well eventually be struck dumb (brainwashed) and belief it’s prayer, but actually were ceasing, that also means don’t repeats words (repeat yourself). Their meaningless. So eventually you’ll grow dumb, and always wait on the Lord if you do so. All Christians should be presenting their requests to God. Because God wants to help. Philippians 4:6 NIV tells us,

 

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6

 

So what have we gone from continuous long meaningless prayer, to actually presenting OUR requests, petition, and giving thanksgiving to God for all that He has done. See the difference there. “Look what you did there.”

 

How in the world could anyone talk to God 6 hours straight without ceasing. I know I couldn’t. Maybe 1 hour at the most if I was in desperate need or in a fast, but other then that. I would sin a lot in that 6-8 hour time frame.

Here are some of IHOP on this prayer movement I mentioned now that we know how these IHOPPERS pray.

 

Tabernacle of David 

1. “We affirm that the Holy Spirit is orchestrating a global worship and prayer movement that will operate in great authority.” – Now remember they believe in contemplative prayer. and their idea of prayer is unscriptural.

 

So what is IHOP making sure they do.

1. They are demanding to the Holy Spirit that the Holy Spirit is orchestrating global worship, and a prayer movement for them.

2. This prayer movement will operate globally, and have great authority  They’re ceasing, so they’ll be struck dumb, wait for God, then grow old dumb. I know I don’t want my prayer life for God to look like THAT! Plus I don’t want to prayer meaningless prayer.

 

Does anyone reading my article see the picture/problem here?

• IHOP DEMANDS GLOBAL PRAYER FROM THE HOLY SPIRIT! THAT WILL OPERATE IN GREAT AUTHORITY! Satan even demands stuff from God. Don’t believe me, well let’s go to my favorite book turn The Bible turn to the book of Matthew 4 (NIV) “Jesus is tempted by Satan.” 

Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. 3 The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”

4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’[b]”

5 Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. 6 “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:

“‘He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’[c]”

7 Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’[d]”

8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”

10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’[e]”

11 Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.

 

So what is my point here, let’s backtrack.

 

IHOP believes from their own WEBSITE, not my words! Get it straight please…

1. They affirmed the Holy Spirit is working globally with them since the Tabernacle of David in this prayer movement Mike Bickle um… created in 1983…. well what happened with the past 1,000 or so years with the Tabernacle of David prayer movement? Ummmm…. it stopped :O! Then Mike Bickle decided to start another one because he demanded it on the on The Holy Spirit! Now does anyone see evil in this, wrong doing? Stupidity? Still don’t let me prove it to everyone!

 

In verse 3 of Matthew 4 The Tempter (Satan) came to Jesus, “Satan said, If you are the son of God, tell these stones to become bread!”

 

Makes me think about IHOP. They didn’t really affirm it the tabernacle of David like David did with God. The Tabernacle of David is not happening today if it still is scripture, scripture didn’t reveal it or I haven’t found it in my studies yet. But remember God gave back David his tabernacle, because he asked, seeked, knocked, and God opened the door for Him! He desired it back to do work for the Lord. Now I’m not saying, IHOP isn’t doing work for the Lord, but their prayer movement is pointless! What concerns me even more if Mike Bickle puts all His tithes into that congregation. No other churches pastor besides victory world church, puts all their money into their church that I know of. I’m sure people give to IHOP. Which is great! but do they realize what Mike has done. It’s HIS church, in HIS possession. So it’s by HIS rules, not God’s. Another reason I’m just so iffy about this movement. But we have to know, and understand we are not David, were not in Jerusalem, were in America. God used David to spread God’s love through the land of Canaan so everyone could see the Lord at work, and through the earth! What is awesome! Is think about it, were more blessed, then people were back then! We have technology, we have THE BIBLE! That is our revelation, not some person who proclaims to be a prophet like Mike Bickle. Mike just like The Tempter Satan, is testing God, He does not know what he is doing foolishly. He’s ceasing himself to be dumb struck, wait for the Lord, and wither away in his stupidity of “prayer.” but I pray He doesn’t do that. Because The Tabernacle of David is not happening today it happened in 1 Chronicles 16’s time for God’s purpose then. Paul told us in 1 Corinthians 13:13 to the Corinthians what remains is, Faith, Hope and Love. But most of all LOVE! And yes remember Philippians 4:6 PRESENT YOUR REQUEST TO GOD WITH THANKSGIVING!

Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”

 

And, honestly I believe a lot of people live on their own bread, and are deceived into this prayer movement, they do not even realize how much harm is being done to them. They ball up, get scared, think we hate them, were judging them, when really were trying to help correct they’re prayer life because I was once, even like that. I was like DON’T TELL ME HOW TO LIVE FOR GOD! But how much was I really studying? the word, but also studying up on my pastors theology? I wasn’t. I was reading the word, but mostly living off the bread of my pastor, not the bread of God which Matthew 4:4

 

We should never affirm to The Holy Spirit to do our will for us. We should ask God what He can do through us! If The Holy Spirit something to happen from us, we have to ask, not demand or affirm it ourselves!

 

What is wrong is Mike is he puts God to the test with his prayer movement. Jesus told Satan in Matthew 4:7,

• Jesus answered him, “It is also written: Do not put the Lord your God to the test.

So I believe we need to do this, as scripture tells us, this helps me, maybe it’ll help everyone reading this!

 

Matthew 7:7 NIV tells us, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”

 

And while were in the process of asking, seeking, knocking, and allowing God to open our doors,

 

James 1:22 (NIV) says, “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”

 

Don’t only merely listen to the pastor teach, listen to God first! Test it! See if it’s biblical we have every right!

 

While asking, seeking, and knocking, DO WHAT THE WORD SAYS! Doors will be opened. Abiding in what the Word says, will allow God to open doors into your heart. Matthew 7:7, and James 1:22 make that very clear. If we listen to the word, and affirm, plus demand the Holy Spirit to bring justice for something we want.

GET THIS:

 

1. The Holy Spirit will not answer

2. The Holy Spirit will not give to you, why? Because it is not HIS PLAN!

3. The Door will close. Then you’ll deceived. That is what happened here with IHOP and their prayer movement. Micke Bickle did not allow The Holy Spirit to do His work. He did not ask, seek, and knock. He merely ALREADY AFFIRMED, AND DEMANDED! God do so. Believing this was true, but it isn’t.

 

When I went to IHOP, I got the general idea, that many of the people in the church, listened to the word, also did what it said, but also compared themselves to scripture believing that had the right to be like the prophets, and authors of the Bible. We do not have that right. but John 19:30 tells us “it is finished.” Now I’m not saying talking about gifts of the spirits here, but the tabernacle of David was in the OT (Old Testament) When Christ looked up to the heavens, on calvary, he set a new covenant! Which is eternal life! Therefore since the OT is complete! So is the tabernacle of David. Because that was a miracle God used in THAT time, not this time.

 

IHOP believes “This prayer movement will operate in the spirit of the tabernacle of David.” I believe biblically speaking that only happened during the time of the Prophet David. There is IHOP’s first mistake. Plus I’ve revealed to everyone reading this with their prayer style. I have been to IHOP and experienced it first hand. I even was brainwashed for 2 months. Trust me!

 

2. ” We (IHOP) deny that the restoration of the tabernacle of David is the same as the end-time prayer movement.” What is this prayer movement? End time prayer movement? This thought was created by Mike Bickle. The pastor of IHOP. Ya’ll know now.

 

By the way this is false. Anyone reading my article has the right to take my information and share it! If you currently attend IHOP. As a brother in Christ I would encourage you to pray to Jesus, and actually release your pride, love, and education about this prayer movement. It is not real. It is false. I’m not saying, the prayers people pray within  “The IHOP movement”  are false but I do believe what Mike did is false because ya’ll and the other IHOP attendees do not know about this, nor do they know any better, but I believe the vision/prophecy Mike Bickle had in 1983 is a lie, so that is what makes it false. So quit praying a lie, and starting praying for yourself to get out of this movement AND ACTUALLY GET OUT, FLEE! It’s time to really serve God else where! He has a better plan! Mike does not! Ya’ll don’t want to cease, become dumb struck, wait for the Lord, and wither away in his stupidity do you? GET OUT FLEE!

 

But first let me explain a little more!

 

IHOP’S explanation for the prayer movement:

 

Explanation: In the days of King David, he established a tabernacle that had singers and musicians who ministered to the Lord night and day. (Not all entirely biblical) Today, the prayer movement is in the spirit of David’s tabernacle (NOT ITS NOT) It’s mikes. This means that the prayer movement will have some components of the tabernacle of David (components of Mike Bickle), specifically pertaining to singers and musicians. The promise of the restoration of the tabernacle of David refers to the governmental restoration of David’s international rule as part of the restoration of national Israel in the millennial kingdom “Yes God did restore Israel, but in that time :O!” The context of Amos 9:11–12 is the governmental rule of Jesus from Jerusalem over all the nations. In Acts 15:13–18, James referred to Amos 9:11 declaring that Gentiles should be accepted into the predominantly Jewish Body of Christ, without needing to convert to Judaism. The apostles understood that in the end times, God would reestablish the Messianic kingdom over all the nations. God had just visited the Gentiles with salvation at Cornelius’s house (Acts 10). This was in agreement with Old Testament prophecy “that’s because the Bible wasn’t finished .” James quoted Amos to prove that many Gentiles will be saved in the context of the restoration of the Davidic dynastic reign. This restoration will, of course, include David’s heart for worship and prayer. Though Amos 9:11 is not prophesying primarily about 24/7 intercessory worship, LOOOOOOK BOOOOOOM!!!!! False!!! Though, what? That’s dangerous ground right there. See what they’re doing! Their adding AFFIRMING, DEMANDING THE HOLY SPIRIT! and idoliizing the tabernacle of David to say and explain why they think its necessary for 24/7 house of prayer to happen. So IS IT REALLY FROM GOD??! No. It’s from Mike. It’s false. Move on people. Do you love God or IHOP!?? This 24/7 prayer is dumb struck, ceasing while waiting for the Lord, and will wither away to stupidity. God is not in it. It’s not Biblical. They’re trying to add to the Bible, just like Catholicism, Mormonism, and etc. I’m not saying Catholicism, is a cult no, neither am I saying IHOP is, but I am on the iffy side on even if their Christian-based or not…

 

Now this is the false doctrine/teaching of mike look

 

“this kind of worship-based prayer will be a foundational reality in the release of Jesus’ worldwide rule over the nations. The prophetic word given to Mike Bickle in May 1983 was that “God would release 24-hour-a-day prayer in the spirit of the tabernacle of David.” In other words, it would involve prophetic singers and musicians. The practice of worship and intercession is not, in itself, the actual restoration of David’s tabernacle.”

 

God did restored the Tabernacle of David for David, not for IHOP. If IHOP has a tabernacle its the tabernacle of Mike Bickle, and Mike Bickle obviously wants to be written into The Bible, eventually if people keep supporting what He does it might happen, and then Mike will be judged for it, and ya’ll will as well. I know I will, for my foolishness in the 3 months, that’s why I am teaching against this movement. I thank God for delivering me from their stupidity of prayer. I pray the same for everyone attending.

 

So one last thing I want to encourage ya’ll to take a look at 1 John 4:1

 

1 John 4:1 tells us, “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.”

 

What does 1 John 4:1 explain here,

1. Do not believe every spirit
2. TEST THE SPIRITS! (don’t be a coward) Challenge them!

Why does John 4:1 explain to “Test the Spirits?”

1. To see if their (spirits) are from God or not!

Why should we consider this?

• Many false prophets have gone out into the world!

I knew it was if church I didn’t feel comforted in the house of God. Then I need to test it. So I did. I had weird encounters almost every Thursday  I explain in my tongues notes on my page about tongues. Not only was that not biblical, but I called the pastor up about the issue, and asked him questions about it.

 

If were not testing the spirits, we’ll become deceived and prune the satisfaction Satan gives us. Satan can even make us feel like God’s presence is near! Especially if we demand God’s kingdom on earth, when actually, it’s in “heaven.” The church is one of Satan’s favorite places to chase us down. That is why its so important to STUDY THE BIBLE! Get it in engraved down! The enemy is beautiful, charming, and deceitful. Satan wants us to fulfill the desires of our hearts. Don’t be deceived. Fill the desires of God’s heart! That is why we will never be “unity of faith” on earth. Only in Heaven!

 

Remember do it with your requests to God, in petition and thanksgiving!

 

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

 

How do we flee from this?

1. Remember 1 John 4:1 TEST THE SPIRITS!

2. Submit yourself to THE BIBLE (God) READ IT!

3. Resist temptation (The Devil)

4. Flee from temptation (The Devil)

 

For more understanding of this, flee from the desires of the heart. Ask God to bring His desires into your heart. Because He Jesus loves you!
